Montgomery Town have informed the league that thay do not wish to participate in the Ardal Northern League (Tier 3) this forthcoming 2021/2022 season.
The reason for resigning from the league are based on what they believe will be their inability to field a team with the experience and physicality to allow the club to compete at the levels that we would expect at Tier 3. They have lost several senior players to other local clubs including the English League and also others who no are longer available due to prioritising their family lives in these difficult times.
The club added "This leaves us with a squad, generally made up of younger players who we have encouraged for some time to be part of our club, but we feel that should they experience a level of football which they are not yet prepared for and are constantly experiencing defeat, their enthusiasm for the game of football will quickly erode.
We fully understand that by resigning from Tier 3, that we now are very likely to be playing at Tier 5 level and we are confident that we can compete and be successful in the not too distant future and subsequently progress back up the FAW Pyramid System.
It is with regret that we find ourselves having to compile this letter, but these exceptionally difficult times that we have experienced over the past year and are continuing to experience, has contributed greatly to our current predicament but we are adamant that we will keep football alive and kicking in Montgomery"
